Byrd-Watson Pharmacy Breaks Ground on New Centralia Location
The Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday to celebrate the upcoming new location of Byrd-Watson Pharmacy at 790 W. McCord Street in Centralia.
The project began several months ago when Bradford National Bank facilitated a meeting between Byrd-Watson owner Kim Weiter and local property owners Tyler and Traci Reuter to explore potential development opportunities.
“This project started when Bradford Vice President Diane Cole brought the two parties together,” said Randy Alderman, Vice President at Bradford National Bank. “That’s what community banks do, and Bradford is proud to be part of it.”
Cole added, “We’re grateful to see our community come together—whether through financial support or active involvement—and to be part of that shared effort.”
During the ceremony, Kim Weiter shared her vision for the new pharmacy, which will include a drive-thru and other modern features while preserving the historic legacy of the Byrd-Watson name.
“My vision is to honor Byrd-Watson’s history and ensure its future,” Weiter said. “We’re adding a drive-thru and other services to create a patient-centered, community healthcare hub. That’s our goal for this new location.”
Tyler Reuter noted that the site was once considered for what became Westside Laundry and expressed pride in helping extend the Byrd-Watson legacy.
“Today, the spotlight is on Byrd-Watson, Kim Weiter, and the history of this iconic business in Centralia,” said Reuter. “This project is a great example of how a community comes together—every piece and every person playing a role.”
Centralia Mayor Bryan Kuder also expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting that all elements—from the business and landowners to the construction and financing—are locally based.
Construction by Johannes Construction is expected to begin soon, with completion anticipated in October. Vice President Preston Johannes said, “It’s a privilege to work with Kim, Tyler, and Traci. We look forward to completing a project that everyone will be proud of.”
