Central Illinois Honor Flight

As the ranks of America's World War II Veterans continue to shrink at the rate of 1,100 per day, so does our chance to honor these heroes, these members of "The Greatest Generation."

Central Illinois Honor Flight aims to address that oversight by offering free flights to the World War II Memorial erected to commemorate the sacrifices of these brave individuals in Washington, D.C.  The inaugural flight, scheduled for April 22nd, will fly 30 World War II Veterans from the Central Illinois area for a day of remembrance.  Additional flights will be scheduled throughout the year.

Veterans - Central Illinois Honor Flight recognizes American war veterans from the central Illinois area for their sacrifices and achievements by flying them to Washington, D.C. to see THEIR memorial at no cost.  Top priority is given to World War II veterans, as well as terminally-ill veterans from all other wars.

In order to achieve this goal, guardians fly with the veterans on every flight providing assistance and helping them to have a safe, memorable and rewarding experience.

If you know of someone who is a World War II veteran (or a veteran of any war with a terminal illness) please fill out an application and send it in.  Remember, every veteran who meets the criteria will fly for free.

Applications to participate in the Honor Flight program are available at Bradford National Bank and the Bond County Clerks office.
